Small Business Services Directory
BCNA, which receives funding through a variety of private and government sources, helps its clients and workshop attendees: obtain microloans to start or expand a business; learn business management skills; understand personal finance and everyday cash management; establish and contribute to a savings account; and purchase a first home or apartment with the help of special government programs. BCNA staff provides services in a variety of languages including: Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Hindi, African dialects of Bassa & Kru, French & Creole, and Tibetan & Nepali. Services are also available at BCNA’s Queens Office located in JacksonHeights.
The Minority and Women Revolving Loan Trust Fund Program makes low-cost financial assistance available to minority and women-owned businesses ["M/WBEs"] that are unable to access traditional financial services. Working capital loans of up to $35,000 and fixed asset loans of up to $50,000 are available. BSRC also provides related technical assistance services to M/WBEs to help these businesses survive and grow. These services include: assistance with completion of loan applications, business plan development, mentorship and peer group programs, and credit union services [where available].
This loan program is open to minority and women-owned businesses with sales not exceeding $10 million and located in Southeast Queens. Loans range from $10,000. to $300,000. for working capital and $10,000. to $300,000. for fixed assets. There is a $100 application fee, 1% commitment fee, and closing costs. Independent, local level small and high-risk minority and/or women-owned businesses are eligible to apply for small, low cost loans via the Springboard Mini-Loan Fund. The loans are available for small businesses located in Community Boards 1,2,3,4,7,8,11 or 12 and can be applied for at the BOEDC office. Start-up and existing minority and women-owned businesses are eligible. Loans can be used for working capital, acquisition of machinery and equipment, revolving lines of credit, seasonal inventory and accounts receivable. For additional information contact Rome Birkett.
