Small Business Services Directory
ACCION USA provides loans and other support services to businesses throughout New York City's five boroughs, Long Island,Westchester and New Jersey. Loans of $500 - $50,000 are made to individuals or to groups of borrowers at every stage in their business, and can be used for equipment, merchandise, working capital, business expansion and more. All types of businesses are eligible for loans, including home-based ones. Service in Spanish is available.
The Corporation has a number of economic development programs focusing on employment solutions; commercial revitalization, commercial leasing and rentals, financial and business education; and youth employment and education.
Bensonhurst Business Club [BBC] is a place where the small businesses of the Brooklyn Russian American Community can come to improve their business skills, raise their concerns, obtain advice and networking with other businessmen. The Club encourages inter-trading and provides numerous opportunities for individual members to promote their own business services and products. The Bensonhurst Business Club uses the experience, expertise and commitment of successful business people as mentors to support and navigate start up businesses. The BBC also collaborates with the HFLS (Hebrew Free Loan Society) in the operation of their joint Bensonhurst Business Institute (BBI) and microenterprise lending programs. BO$$ is a microloan program that makes funds available to start-ups and existing businesses in northern Manhattan and the western Bronx with fewer than ten employees, and annual sales of less than $500,000. BO$$ focuses on helping micro-entrepreneurs with limited education, English language, and business expertise. BO$$ Micro Loans range from $400 to $50,000, with an interest rate currently at 9.0% annually. BO$$ also offers one-on-one business counseling, business plan review, and referrals. The Business Resources and Investments Service Center (BRISC) offers start-up and/or expansion loans to qualified entrepreneurs in Upper Manhattan: $50,000 to $250,000 loan size; Competitive fixed rate; Maximum seven (7) year maturity; and No job creation requirement.

The SBA's Bronx Women's Business Resource Center provides individualized, comprehensive guidance to small business owners and future entrepreneurs. The mission of the HPEDC/Women's Business Resource Center is to empower people by assisting them to become economically independent through self-employment. The services are offered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. We seek to assist women and minorities who own or aspire to own a business in or around the Bronx, to gain the tools, resources, and confidence to succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures. WBRC offers one-on-one technical assistance, business workshops, access to capital, computer training, and long-term entrepreneurial training. WBRC is also part of the Business Outreach Center Network with offices in all 5 boroughs and Newark, NJ, and is one of the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program Center (EAP) in New York State. Sponsored by the Empire State Development Corporation, the EAP consists of 60 hours of intensive entrepreneurship training and over 15 hours of hands-on counseling. The WBRC is sponsored in part by SBA, Empire State Development, BOC Network and HPEDC. SBA's funding is not an endorsement of any products, opinions, or services. All SBA programs are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.
The Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] is a 32 year old private, not-for-profit organization. As a multi-service agency working with government agencies, educational institutions, and the private sector, BEDC offers comprehensive business consulting and economic development services. BEDC offers technical assistance, financial assistance, location assistance, and entrepreneur training programs for start-up and early-stage entrepreneurs.
The Brooklyn (Kings County) Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (BHCC) main focuses are (but not limited to): their Business Incubator Program, which assists aspiring entrepreneurs in getting started by providing extensive and thorough education to those who wish to become small business owners; processing loans as Technical Assistance Providers for the US Small Business Administration (SBA); assisting with Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) certification as an affiliate for the NYC Department of Small Business Services and hosting Educational/Networking seminars for new/ existing business owners. Services are available in English and in Spanish.
BCNA, which receives funding through a variety of private and government sources, helps its clients and workshop attendees: obtain microloans to start or expand a business; learn business management skills; understand personal finance and everyday cash management; establish and contribute to a savings account; and purchase a first home or apartment with the help of special government programs. BCNA staff provides services in a variety of languages including: Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Hindi, African dialects of Bassa & Kru, French & Creole, and Tibetan & Nepali.
