The Corporation has a number of economic development programs focusing on employment solutions; commercial revitalization, commercial leasing and rentals, financial and business education; and youth employment and education.

The BIEE initiative consists of three separate partnership funds: The Bronx Partnership for Electric Transportation, the Bronx Partnership for Environmental Benefit, and the Bronx Partnership for Residential and Commercial Energy Efficiency and New Technology. The goal of the initiative is to demonstrate pathways to a greener Bronx. For-profit companies, non-profit organizations and housing corporations operating in the Bronx are eligible to apply for BIEE funds. BIEE funds can be used for: Implementation of energy-efficient measures, including electric/alternative fuel machinery and equipment; Boiler retrofit; New technology to reduce air pollution and/or cause energy savings, e.g.: green roofs and other greening measures; Solar technology; Wind technology; and Customized energy surveys.

Energy Cost Savings Program (ECSP) is an energy discount program administered by the Department of Small Business Services (SBS). The program reduced energy costs for businesses that (a) relocate to, (b) make improvements to property in, or (c) lease space in, previously improved buildings in Manhattan above 96th Street or in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island. The Environmental Revolving Loan Fund [RLF] provides interest-free loans to Bronx businesses and building owners to encourage the use of energy efficient measures and new technology. The goal is to improve air quality throughout the Bronx. The RLF targets several areas of energy efficiency and new technology: green roof development; boiler retrofits; upgrades to electric forklifts; upgrade of trailer refrigerator units to duel-fuel capacity; and development of new environmental technology.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard is a modern industrial park with tenants representing a variety of industries like construction, theatrical set design, computer and office supplies, contracting, refrigerated distribution facilities, media communications and promotions, motor overhauling, and metal fabrication. The Empire Zone (EZ) program provides a variety of tax incentives to businesses expanding and creating jobs in targeted areas.
