The AALDC is a not-for-profit organization committed to the economic development, cultural enrichment and historical preservation of the Atlantic Avenue area from Fourth Avenue to the waterfront in Brooklyn, New York.
The Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] is a 32 year old private, not-for-profit organization. As a multi-service agency working with government agencies, educational institutions, and the private sector, BEDC offers comprehensive business consulting and economic development services. BEDC offers technical assistance, financial assistance, location assistance, and entrepreneur training programs for start-up and early-stage entrepreneurs.
A program of the West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation and a member of the Business Outreach Center network, with offices throughout the City, offers free counseling and referrals. After an initial intake and analysis of an ongoing or prospective business, counselors develop a needs assessment and work with clients to identify and take full advantage of appropriate specialized services, programs and financing sources. BOC counselors also provide essential follow-up and look for early warnings of problems, particularly in utilizing loans. Note: Other BOCs are located in Brooklyn, Chinatown, Upper Manhattan, and Corona Queens. Check listings in other boroughs or call the main office at 718-624-9115. The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition [CALDC] works with approximately 1000 retailers and merchants on Steinway Street, Broadway, 30th Avenue, and 36th Avenue. Each of these groups has an active merchants' association and CALDC acts as an umbrella organization to provide technical assistance to each group.
