Since 1989, ADC has addressed the complex, interconnected challenges facing the Harlem community through effective implementation of its mission to: Increase the availability of quality housing to people of diverse incomes; Enhance the delivery of social services, particularly to the homeless, elderly, families and children; Foster economic revitalization; Enhance educational and developmental opportunities for youth; and Build community capacity through civic engagement.
BO$$ is a microloan program that makes funds available to start-ups and existing businesses in northern Manhattan and the western Bronx with fewer than ten employees, and annual sales of less than $500,000. BO$$ focuses on helping micro-entrepreneurs with limited education, English language, and business expertise. BO$$ Micro Loans range from $400 to $50,000, with an interest rate currently at 9.0% annually. BO$$ also offers one-on-one business counseling, business plan review, and referrals. H.E.L.P. provides Harlem residents with the financial tools they need to improve their wealth by increasing their financial knowledge, achieving homeownership, and starting or expanding a business. The Entrepreneurship component enhances the understanding of entrepreneurs and small business owners in areas such as marketing, finance, and management. Export Assistance Center [USEAC]- serving Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens - is staffed with experienced, professional trade experts who can assist you in exporting your products/services by providing comprehensive counseling and advice, through timely and accurate intelligence regarding foreign markets, by identifying qualified international buyers and representatives, by advocating on your behalf, and by providing comprehensive solutions to whatever challenges that you may encounter.
The Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not for profit financial institution dedicated to meeting the financial services and credit needs of local residents, businesses and community organizations. LES serves a range of communities including individuals who live, work, volunteer, worship, or attend school in Manhattan Community Board 3 (Lower East Side) and Manhattan Community Board 10 (Central Harlem) and residents of New York’s five boroughs who have a household income less than $38,000 per year – see their website for a complete list. Services include small business loans; business and nonprofit bank accounts; business banking services; small business workshops; and technical assistance.
