Small Business Services Directory

The LaGuardia CC Small Business Development Center offers free one-to-one counseling to business owners and to entrepreneurs. Clients learn to understand the importance of a business plan; discover funding sources; prepare for e-commerce; identify opportunities for exporting goods and services; develop marketing plans; assess an invention's viability; and comply with licensing and regulation requirements. The Center sponsors regularly scheduled workshops and seminars. Services are available on an appointment basis. Contact the Center at the above telephone number or visit their website and fill out an electronic appointment form. Services are available 9-5 Monday-Friday. The Baruch SBDC offers free one-on-one counseling and training on all aspects of starting and operating a business. Together with the Field Center for Entrepreneurship within which it is located, certified business counselors and Baruch business school professors provide assistance with a wide range of business challenges. These challenges include the creation of a focused business plan, selecting funding alternatives, understanding financial statements, developing marketing plans, planning an on-line business, and complying with licensing and regulatory requirements. MBA students can provide technical assistance. Note: There are other SBDCs within NYCs five boroughs.

This SBDC offers free individualized counseling, specializing in start-ups and expansions. Services include assistance with business plans, marketing plans, financial planning and loan packaging. Also offered are topical workshops on a variety of business related issues, including marketing, franchising and exporting. Note: There are other SBDCs throughout the City. The Pace University Small Business Development Center specializes in providing, free of charge, one-on-one counseling to existing businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. This counseling focuses on the development of superior business plans and locating appropriate sources of funding to put the clients' enterprises on a sound financial basis. SoBRO is a not-for-profit organization offering services designed to: Provide education, work readiness and employment programs for adults; Provide existing and newly established businesses with technical assistance, programs and services designed to enhance their ability to compete in the marketplace; and Engage in pro-active community assessment, planning and advocacy in order to strengthen the local economic environment.

The Southwest Brooklyn Empire Zone (EZ) covers the Sunset Park industrial area, Red Hook and the Gowanus waterfront. In addition to EZ tax credits and other standard benefits, the EZ offers free technical assistance, referrals, an employment service, and an ombudsman program to connect businesses with government agencies and services.
The St. Nicholas Alliance Brooklyn Business Center Has business counselors who help you by providing mentoring, direction, and links to resources and funding. You can schedule a 1-on-1 meeting with our small business professionals; participate in the Business Plan Boot Camp, a 20-class intensive for entrepreneurs and small business owners that targets is focused start-ups and businesses under 5 years old; and participate in webinars that are specifially designed for entrepreneurs or small business owners in North Brooklyn and the five boroughs.
