The SBDC offers free one-on-one counseling to business owners and entrepreneurs. Services include: financial analysis, loan evaluation and packaging, management analysis, business plan development and export assistance. Business seminars and workshops are offered regularly. The Pace University Small Business Development Center specializes in providing, free of charge, one-on-one counseling to existing businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. This counseling focuses on the development of superior business plans and locating appropriate sources of funding to put the clients' enterprises on a sound financial basis. SoBRO is a not-for-profit organization offering services designed to: Provide education, work readiness and employment programs for adults; Provide existing and newly established businesses with technical assistance, programs and services designed to enhance their ability to compete in the marketplace; and Engage in pro-active community assessment, planning and advocacy in order to strengthen the local economic environment.
The Southwest Brooklyn Empire Zone (EZ) covers the Sunset Park industrial area, Red Hook and the Gowanus waterfront. In addition to EZ tax credits and other standard benefits, the EZ offers free technical assistance, referrals, an employment service, and an ombudsman program to connect businesses with government agencies and services.
The St. Nicholas Alliance Brooklyn Business Center Has business counselors who help you by providing mentoring, direction, and links to resources and funding. You can schedule a 1-on-1 meeting with our small business professionals; participate in the Business Plan Boot Camp, a 20-class intensive for entrepreneurs and small business owners that targets is focused start-ups and businesses under 5 years old; and participate in webinars that are specifially designed for entrepreneurs or small business owners in North Brooklyn and the five boroughs.
St. Nicks Alliance/Workforce Development is a rapidly growing workforce development arm of St. Nicholas Neighborhood Preservation Corporation. St. Nicks Alliance aims to help long-term public assistance recipients land that first job, enable those with some work experience to obtain high demand skills and secure high-wage jobs, and give other neighborhood residents the opportunity to obtain a career through evening programs. Services to businesses may include human resources consulting, job-candidate screening and customized training for employees. For jobseekers services include resume and interview preparation, job-search coaching and access to educational and training opportunities.
