Small Business Services Directory
The Greater Hunts Point Chamber of Commerce works for the benefit of more than 700 industrial businesses in Hunts Point, the largest food distribution center in the United States. The GHPCC hosts business seminars and public events aimed at building connections between Hunts Point businesses, and between Hunts Point and other companies interested in doing business with Hunts Point.
The Harlem Business Alliance has developed cohesive public/private partnerships to assist existing and emerging businesses, community residents, and youth.The organization serves as an advocate for the preservation and retention of Harlem's business community. HBA sponsors a number of programs and events. Among them: the 125th St. Pilot Retail Incentive Program, the HBA Business Plan Competition, a free Legal Advice Program, and the HBA Merchant Loan Program. One-to-One business counseling services are also available.
The Harlem Entrepreneurial Fund, LLC is a community revolving loan fund program designed to increase the availability of small business capital loans to enhance small business expansion and help increase jobs in small business enterprises based in the Harlem community. HEF offers three major services to small businesses in the Harlem Community: 1) Loans up to a maximum of $25,000, 2) Consulting Services and 3) Technical assistance. HEF helps businesses develop business plans, analyzes cash flow projections, and assists with strategic planning. HEF, also partners with other programs at Harlem Commonwealth Council, Financial Institutions and other Micro-lenders to provide financial services and financial literacy seminars to individuals and businesses.
The Harlem U. S. Export Assistance Center [USEAC]- serving Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens - is staffed with experienced, professional trade experts who can assist you in exporting your products/services by providing comprehensive counseling and advice, through timely and accurate intelligence regarding foreign markets, by identifying qualified international buyers and representatives, by advocating on your behalf, and by providing comprehensive solutions to whatever challenges that you may encounter.

Workforce1 Career Centers are a one-stop shop for employers and jobseekers. Services to businesses may include human resources consulting, job-candidate screening and customized training for employees. For jobseekers services include resume and interview preparation, job-search coaching and access to educational and training opportunities. The IDA Program in Chinatown is dedicated to helping low-income entrepreneurs start their own business by providing seed capital and business training materials. Chinatown BOC (Business Outreach Center) works with U.S. Dept, of Health and Human Services to help grant applicants with their business objectives.
A city, state, and federally-supported economic development and consulting organization. ITAC is a 21 year old company that has provided productivity, profitability and growth solutions to over 2000 New York City manufacturing and technology companies. ITAC's mission is to help companies start, stay and thrive in the five boroughs. Areas of expertise include Entrepreneurship; Strategic & Business Planning; Sales & Marketing; Human Resources & Training; Lean Manufacturing; Plant Layout & Relocation Support; Sustainability: Business Mentoring & Coaching; Financial Management & Strategy; Information Systems & Quality / ISO [International Standards Organization]; Technology Commercialization; and Waste Management. ITAC offers Assessments and provides general recommendations on a no- or low-fee basis. More extensive services are available for a fee.
The Jamaica Business Resource Center and Queens/Nassau Suffolk Minority Business Development Center are not-for-profit business consulting and technical assistance organizations. Their primary service areas is New York City, Long Island and Westchester County. A series of training sessions in the fundamentals of business management are also given by JBRC. Services provided include: 1) a Business Information Center with a small business library for business research and planning, and access to MBDA/SBA and other government programs; 2) Business Advisory Group - a staff of business professionals providing guidance and assistance with business plans, loan packages, and other areas of technical assistance; 3) access to banks, revolving loan funds, equity/mezzanine funding and other sources of capital for your business through One Stop Capital Shop; 4) Uniform Minority and Women Business Certification/8A Certification and Contract Procurement assistance for federal, state, local, and private sector contracts. 5) A newly established division in International Trade provides technical assistance to small businesses engaged in exporting; 6) Advice on NYC licenses, permits, and regulations is provided to clients by the New York City Department of Small Business Services.
LAGCC's Division of Adult Continuing Education offers a number of business-related courses, workshops, and programs to the general public through their Center for Corporate Education, the LaGuardia Small Business Development Center, the New York Designs/Incubator Program and the Workforce Education Center.
