A wide range of technical assistance and advisory services are provided to New York State employers at no charge. The Department has other metro area offices: Harlem-917-493-7200; the Bronx-718-960-7901; Brooklyn-718-780-9201; Queens-718-321-6307 or 718-557-6735; and Staten Island-718-285-8388.
Workforce1 Career Centers are a one-stop shop for employers and jobseekers. Services to businesses may include human resources consulting, job-candidate screening and customized training for employees. For jobseekers services include resume and interview preparation, job-search coaching and access to educational and training opportunities. The Industrial and Commercial Abatement Program [ICAP] provides abatements for real property taxes for varying periods up to 25 years. Eligible industrial and commercial buildings must be built, modernized, expanded, or otherwise physically improved.
NYC Industrial Development Assistance programs provide companies with access to triple tax-exempt bond financing or tax benefits to acquire or create capital assets, such as purchasing real estate, constructing or renovating facilities, and acquiring new equipment. NYCIDA can offer expertise in a variety of bond programs, incentive programs and negotiated incentives.
A city, state, and federally-supported economic development and consulting organization. ITAC is a 21 year old company that has provided productivity, profitability and growth solutions to over 2000 New York City manufacturing and technology companies. ITAC's mission is to help companies start, stay and thrive in the five boroughs. Areas of expertise include Entrepreneurship; Strategic & Business Planning; Sales & Marketing; Human Resources & Training; Lean Manufacturing; Plant Layout & Relocation Support; Sustainability: Business Mentoring & Coaching; Financial Management & Strategy; Information Systems & Quality / ISO [International Standards Organization]; Technology Commercialization; and Waste Management. ITAC's Technology Practice assists with product development and launch, finding additional funding, business plan development, and enabling partnerships with academic institutions. ITAC's Virtual Incubator Program (VIP) helps early stage manufacturers and technology firms to bring their products and processes to the next level. We also assist mature manufacturing firms to adopt technologis for their businesses, both off the shelf applications and new applications developed from existing technology.

The Jamaica Business Resource Center and Queens/Nassau Suffolk Minority Business Development Center are not-for-profit business consulting and technical assistance organizations. Their primary service areas is New York City, Long Island and Westchester County. A series of training sessions in the fundamentals of business management are also given by JBRC. Services provided include: 1) a Business Information Center with a small business library for business research and planning, and access to MBDA/SBA and other government programs; 2) Business Advisory Group - a staff of business professionals providing guidance and assistance with business plans, loan packages, and other areas of technical assistance; 3) access to banks, revolving loan funds, equity/mezzanine funding and other sources of capital for your business through One Stop Capital Shop; 4) Uniform Minority and Women Business Certification/8A Certification and Contract Procurement assistance for federal, state, local, and private sector contracts. 5) A newly established division in International Trade provides technical assistance to small businesses engaged in exporting; 6) Advice on NYC licenses, permits, and regulations is provided to clients by the New York City Department of Small Business Services.

There are approximately 250 businesses in this one square mile In-Place Industrial Park [IPIP] zoned for light manufacturing. These businesses include food processors, wholesale distributors of goods, fabricated metals, and electric and electronic equipment. The IPIP offers area maintenance and upgrades, free security surveys, and referrals.

The KASBSC offers members information, workshops, and publications on issues of interest to small businesses, including government regulations. It also sponsors networking events and contacts government agencies to make collective presentations on issues of interest and concern to Korean American entrepreneurs in the New York City area.
