Workforce1 Career Centers are a one-stop shop for employers and jobseekers. Services to businesses may include human resources consulting, job-candidate screening and customized training for employees. For jobseekers services include resume and interview preparation, job-search coaching and access to educational and training opportunities. The Brooklyn Public Library Business Library has a reference collection of more than 100,000 volumes, a circulating collection of 30,000 books, internet access, electronic resources, 800 magazines and newspapers, and real estate data. The Business Library provides industry and demographic data, investment information, business directories and free electronic resources available remotely with library card, as well as access to the internet computers. It also houses the Small Business Information Center, which includes sample business plans, books on starting and advancing a business, and free counseling with SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. The Library regularly hosts educational programs and Wednesday morning tours at 10:15 AM. The Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] is a 32 year old private, not-for-profit organization. As a multi-service agency working with government agencies, educational institutions, and the private sector, BEDC offers comprehensive business consulting and economic development services. BEDC offers technical assistance, financial assistance, location assistance, and entrepreneur training programs for start-up and early-stage entrepreneurs.

The Business Information Center [BIC] provides the latest high-tech hardware, software, and telecommunications to help start-up and expanding businesses. The BIC offers a variety of counseling services and training opportunities. Access is available to a range of print and electronic resources [including the Internet]. The BOC network, with offices throughout the City, offers free counseling and referrals. After an initial intake and analysis of an ongoing or prospective business, counselors develop a needs assessment and work with clients to identify and take full advantage of specialized services, programs and financing sources offered by other organizations. BOC counselors also provide essential follow-up, looking for early warnings of problems, particularly in utilizing loans. The South Brooklyn BOC also offers grants for low-income entrepreneurs. Languages spoken include English, Russian, French, Hebrew, and Yiddish. Note: Other BOCS are located in North Brooklyn, Chinatown, Harlem, Hunts Point, Queens, and Staten Island. Affiliated with the Business Outreach Center [BOC] Network and sponsored by the Greater Newark Enterprises Corporation, the Greater Newark Business Outreach Center [BOC] offers a variety of services to small business owners and to entrepreneurs. These services include business plan development, access to financing, marketing, import / export information, entrepreneurial training and licensing and permit information. The City's Business Outreach Team provides business assistance services to all City businesses by deploying agents directly to business locations. Helps businesses resolve problems relating to delivery of government services and business-related issues. Also expanded to include the "Emergency Response Unit," which offers emergency assistance to businesses that are forced to interrupt their operations due to "unavoidable disasters."
