"Testimony of a Thousand Witnesses:" A Conversation with James G. Basker
Program Locations:
Join us for a fascinating conversation with James Basker, editor of American Antislavery Writings: Colonial Beginnings to Emancipation. Open to the public and geared toward educators, this free event will bring to light some of the lessons we can learn from—and teach our students about—antislavery writings. Featuring dramatic readings and a presentation by James Basker, the evening will also include an interactive audience discussion. Moderated by Deirdre Hollman, Director of Education and The Junior Scholars Program at the Schomburg Center.
Arrive early for a special viewing of the Schomburg Center’s “Visualizing Emancipation” exhibition from 5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Stay afterward for a book signing and meet-and-greet.
