Before 5: A 200-Year Affair of African Americans in Paris

March 27, 2013

Program Locations:

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture

Join Julia Browne, of “Walking The Spirit Tours,” for a fascinating journey into black Paris. Through a multimedia presentation and storytelling, Browne will retrace the events and people that have bound black American and French culture for two centuries—from W.E.B. Du Bois’ groundbreaking exhibit at the 1900 World Expo to celebrating Henry O. Tanner’s prize-winning art, from Josephine Baker’s dazzle and daring to Richard Wright's controversial writings.
