March 13, 2013
Program Locations:
Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
Author of The Story of Motown and The Lost Supreme, Peter Benjaminson discusses his latest book, Mary Wells: The Tumultuous Life of Motown's First Superstar. Benjaminson’s biography recalls the exciting and tumultuous life story of wonderful performer Mary Wells who famously sang "My Guy," "You Beat Me to the Punch," "Two Lovers" and many other Motown and rock 'n' roll classics. Don’t miss videos of Ms. Wells in performance as well as portions of interviews that were taped just before she died and have never been previously publicized. A book signing will follow.
