The Closing the Achievement Gap (CAG) is a speaker series and learning program sponsored by NYCDOE Division of Equity and Access and derives from the Empowering Boys Initiative (EBI).  The series is a component of the NYCDOE’s Empowering Boys Initiative and focuses on closing the achievement gap in Black and Latino male students by supporting schools through the identification, development and promotion of innovative and culturally competent support systems.  This year’s theme will be Culturally Relevant Pedagogy – Race, Practice and the Achievement Gap. These sessions will be used to demonstrate the importance of utilizing Culturally Relevant Pedagogy as a tool that can aide in closing the achievement gap by connecting cultural responsive awareness to students’ academic and social achievement. For more information, contact Nicole Yarde at eb@schools.nyc.gov.
