Education @ the Schomburg: Rhythms of Resistance!

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
For ages 5 to 18 years
Utilizing assorted drums, cymbals, tambourines and marimbas, as well as the body percussion rhythms of shout, juba and jive Master percussionist David Pleasant illustrates how these forms of communication helped forge a language of resistance against slavery. Don't miss this master musician, storyteller and trailblazer in African and Gullah/Geechee traditions. Grades 4 and up. To register, email schomburged@nypl.org.
