The Dance Historian Is In: Screening #10
Program Locations:
Registration opens May 30, 2013 - 9:00am

David Vaughan, archivist of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and author of Merce Cunningham/65 Years, will screen two works by Richard Alston, the artistic director of The Place in London, where the Richard Alston Dance Company is based:
1) Soda Lake, a solo originally choreographed for Rambert Dance Company in 1981 and performed by Michael Clark, with sculpture by Nigel Hall. In this videorecording, made by the National Resource Centre for Dance, University of Surrey, in collaboration with Rambert Dance Company, directed by Peter Merton and introduced by the choreographer, the solo is danced by Mark Baldwin and Amanda Britton.
2) Pulcinella, a ballet with song in one act, choreographed for Rambert Dance Company in 1987, with music by Igor Stravinsky and designs by Howard Hodgkin. This videorecording was directed for television by Bob Lockyer.
The program will take place in the Third Floor Screening Room, at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
SEATING IS LIMITED, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Registration closes 12pm, June 26. Any remaining seats on the day of the screening will be available on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 1:30pm.
