Special Collections at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

In addition to presenting an active library card, researchers are required to apply for access to materials held in the Special Collections.

Applications for access to the following collections may be submitted through a web form.

• Rare Books Division
• Arents Collection 
• Manuscripts and Archives Division

Applications for access to the following collections may be submitted in the collections' reading rooms.

• Berg Collection
• Pforzheimer Collection
• Print Collection
• Photography Collection
• Spencer Collection

All applicants will need to present a valid library card and photo identification before allowed to consult collection material.

Final determinations regarding access to specific items are the responsibility of the staff of the individual special collection, in consultation with the reader, and the rules of the individual collections and reading rooms apply.

All Special Collections Reading Rooms require that coats, briefcases, parcels, packages, bags, and umbrellas be checked in the ground floor check-room near the 42nd Street entrance.
