Music @NYPL presents East Harlem Trio

May 11, 2013

Program Locations:

Harlem Library
This program is made possible by the Friends of Webster.

Debra Kreisberg has made her mark on the world as the captiviating star clarinetist of veteran NYC klezmer bands The Isle of Klezbos and Metropolitan klezmer, but music insiders know she is much more than that.  For many years, this Eastman School of Music and Manhattan School of Music grad has earned the respect of her colleagues playing in award-winning New York area ensembles in the arena of big bands, Latin ensembles, funk and blues bands, and more.  Her lyrical, pure tone have been compared to Johnny Hodges and Paul Desmond and her virtuosic technique and thorough command of bebop melodic vocabulary have been compared to Sonny Stitt.

The East Harlem trio includes Debra's equally-accomplished colleagues, Shoko Nagai on piano and Dave Hofstra on acoustic bass, coming together to perform a one-hour concert of jazz standards and originals.
