Writer and filmmaker Raquel Cepeda presents selections of her current work-in-progress Deconstructing Latina, a feature documentary about Latino identity in America following a group of teenage girls from a suicide prevention program who are transformed by the exploration of their roots through the use of ancestral DNA testing. In addition, Cepeda will also discuss her new book Bird of Paradise: How I Became Latina, part memoir and part chronicle of her own year-long journey to discover the truth about her ancestry while looking at what it means to be a Latina today, published on March 5, 2013 by Atria/Simon & Schuster.
