Library Closings

The Mott Haven Library will be closed from June 27 - July 6, 2013 to facilitate Branch improvements. During this period we encourage you to use the Woodstock Library at 761 East 160th Street or the Hunt's Point Library at 877 Southern Boulevard. We will re-open the first floor for regular service on Monday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m.

Please note: The Children's Room and Youth Adult Literacy Center will remain closed and resume service on Monday, July 15.

The Soundview Library will temporarily be closed from June 3, 2013 - July 1, 2013 to facilitate Branch improvements.

During this period we encourage you to visit the following nearby branches:

CASTLE HILL LIBRARY- 947 Castle Hill Avenue (718-824-3838)

CLASON'S POINT LIBRARY- 1215 Morrison Avenue (718-842-1235)

PARKCHESTER LIBRARY- 1985 Westchester Avenue (718-829-7830)

All holds originally set for pickup at our branch will be delivered to the Clason's Point library for the duration of our closing.

The Ninety-Sixth Street Branch will close down temporarily to facilitate the installation of new equipment needed for heating and cooling of the branch. The branch will reopen in the fall. The outdoor drop box will remain open while the branch is closed.

While construction is being done, we encourage you to visit the following nearby branches, which have had their public service hours increased:

YORKVILLE — 222 East 79th St. (between 2nd and 3rd Ave)
Mon 10-7, Tue 10-7, Wed 10-7, Thu 10-7, Fri 10-5, Sat 10-5

AGUILAR — 174 East 110th St. (between 3rd and Lexington Ave)

All holds originally set for pickup at our branch will be delivered to the Yorkville Library for the duration of our closing. See information on selecting an alternative pickup location.

The Columbus Branch will be temporarily closed beginning June 3rd 2013, to facilitate upgrades to its heating and cooling systems. The branch will reopen in September 2013. While construction is being complete, we encourage you to visit the following nearby branches: Riverside - 127 Amsterdam Avenue ( at West 65th Street) Mon 11-7, Tue 10-6, Wed 11-7, Thu 10-6, Fri 10-5, Sat 10-5.
58th Street - 127 East 58th Street ( Between Park and Lexington Avenues) Mon 11-7, Tue 10-6, Wed 11-7, Thu 10-6, Fri 10-5, Sat 10-5. All holds originally set for pickup at our branch will be delivered to the 58th Street branch library for the duration of our closing.

As of August 30, 2008, The Donnell Library Center is closed. Please visit one of the other branches of The New York Public Library.

The Washington Heights Library is projected to reopen in late 2013 after a major renovation.

Dongan Hills Library will be closed until further notice to facilitate air conditioner repair work. Items requested for pickup at Dongan Hills will be delivered to the New Dorp Library. If you would like to choose a pickup location other than New Dorp, you may login to your online account & make the change for any items not already in transit. Items originally borrowed from Dongan Hills may be returned to any NYPL location.
