  The New York Botanical Garden is a public garden and research institution dedicated to botanical science and the documentation and preservation of the Earth's plant biodiversity. The site has a searchable database of the Garden's virtual herbarium collection with images, and an online index to botanical literature.
  
  
• vPlants-a virtual herbarium of the Chicago region
  Three botanical institutions, The Morton Arboretum, The Field Museum of Natural History, and the Chicago Botanic Garden have created an on-line searchable herbarium (vPlants, or "virtual plants") that will provide herbarium specimen data and digital images of specimens and labels from the Chicago region.
