Use the search fields below to find hundreds of organizations in New York City that can provide you with help in starting or running your small business. Included in this searchable database are programs which offer business advice, loans, grants, location assistance, and a wide range of other services for small businesses throughout the city — often at no cost or for a low fee.
SCORE at SIBL provides FREE advisory services to small business managers and entreprenuers (startup, preparing a business plan, applying for a business loan, forming a corporation or partnership), one on one appointments and workshops and seminars at low cost. SCORE Counseling Schedule at SIBL are: Monday 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Tuesday thru Thursday from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday and Saturday 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. SCORE offers free individual counseling from experienced retired executives on all aspects of starting and running a small business. In addition, seminars and owrkshops are offered regularly on a variety of topics including "How to Start a Business" and "How to Get Financing." SCORE Chapter 476 has three Staten Island locations: at the Chamber of Commerce on 130 Bay Street (open Wednesdays from 9am-12pm, appointment necessary); at Santander Bank, 1550 Richmond Road (open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm, no appointment necessary); and at the St. George Library, NY Public Library at 5 Central Avenue, 718-442-8560 on Saturday mornings.
The Baruch SBDC offers free one-on-one counseling and training on all aspects of starting and operating a business. Together with the Field Center for Entrepreneurship within which it is located, certified business counselors and Baruch business school professors provide assistance with a wide range of business challenges. These challenges include the creation of a focused business plan, selecting funding alternatives, understanding financial statements, developing marketing plans, planning an on-line business, and complying with licensing and regulatory requirements. MBA students can provide technical assistance. Note: There are other SBDCs within NYCs five boroughs.
This SBDC offers free individualized counseling, specializing in start-ups and expansions. Services include assistance with business plans, marketing plans, financial planning and loan packaging. Also offered are topical workshops on a variety of business related issues, including marketing, franchising and exporting. Note: There are other SBDCs throughout the City. Services include: financial analysis, loan evaluation and packaging, management analysis, business plan development and export assistance. Business seminars and workshops are offered regularly.
