The 42nd Street Library Renovation
The New York Public Library is restoring its landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building to its original purpose of providing library services for “the free use of all the people.”
Improved Library Services for . . .
Fulfilling a Historic Mission
By the Numbers
Our work will honor this historic building while innovating to provide researchers, readers, families, and entrepreneurs the inspiring spaces that all New Yorkers deserve. Driven by the expert advice of our librarians, and built to ensure the best use of precious public and private resources, this project will reflect input from the broad range of the Library’s stakeholders, and we will continue to seek counsel and provide updates throughout and beyond the renovation.
