Author Talks: Edge of Chaos: Dambisa Moyo with Garry Kasparov

Event Details

An economist and a chess master discuss the future of democratic capitalism.

Edge of ChaosAngry citizens from Belgium to Brazil are leading protests to demand a greater say in their political, personal, and economic futures. Their underlying outrage is the same, says economist Dambisa Moyo. People are demanding their governments do more to improve their lives faster, something which policymakers are unable to deliver under conditions of anemic growth.
In her new book, Edge of Chaos, Moyo argues that demographics, inequality, commodity scarcity, and technological innovation are driving social and economic unrest. The solution: a fundamental retooling of democratic capitalism. Fragile economies result in a fragile international community; that can lead, says Moyo, to a fragmented and unstable global future.

Moyo will be joined in conversation by Garry Kasparov, 13th world chess champion and chairman of the Human Rights Foundation.
