This hands-on workshop will give you an overview of the NYPL Map Warper tool and how you can use it to explore local history. This tool also supports the Library's historical mapping game, Building Inspector, and the upcoming Space/Time Directory

What is the Map Warper?                                                                                                                                                                                                             The Map Warper is a free tool (available at maps.nypl.org) that enables you to transform digital images of historical maps into the tiles of a virtual atlas.

Who should take this workshop?                                                                                                                                                                              Everyone! Students, teachers, map lovers, history buffs, artists, and researchers can all use the Map Warper. You can too. All you need are  basic computer and internet skills. And once you've learned the essentials of the Map Warper, you can continue on to Citizen Cartography II: Warping Maps.

How can I find out more?                                                                                                                                                                                                       Attend a workshop, watch the tutorial at maps.nypl.org, or send an email to citizencartographer@gmail.com to get your questions answered.
