Books at Noon: Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming comes to Books at Noon to discuss his latest work, Not My Father's Son: A Memoir.

Alan Cumming is an actor and activist beyond eclectic. He plays Eli Gold on CBS’s The Good Wife, for which he received Golden Globe, Emmy, SAG and Satellite award nominations, and is currently reprising his Tony Award-winning role of the Emcee in the Broadway musical Cabaret. Cumming is also Host of PBS’s Masterpiece Mystery and appears opposite Lisa Kudrow in Showtime's Web Therapy. He has written for The New York Times, Newsweek, Harper’s Bazaar and Out. A tireless champion for LGBT civil rights and HIV/AIDS, Cumming serves on the Board of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and works closely with amfAR, Chromocell, The Trevor Project  and the Ali Forney Center. In 2009, Alan was made an OBE in the Queen's Honors List, and he has been awarded both the Great Scot and Icon of Scotland awards by his homeland, Scotland.

Schwarzman Building on Wednesdays this fall for Books at Noon, a series of free midday conversations with acclaimed authors. Books at Noon events are standing room only and take place under the center arch in historic Astor Hall. An audience Q&A and book-signing will follow each half-hour program.
