Preservation Week: Preservation Week 2015: Be an Informed Consumer of Custom Picture Framing
Presenters: Denise Stockman, Assistant Paper Conservator, Barbara Goldsmith Preservation Division, New York Public Library
Walking onto a frame shop can be a bit daunting. There are decisions to be made about mats, mounting, glass, the frame itself, and where and how to hang it when you get home. How do you know that you are doing the right thing for your valued object? Is it worth the cost? NYPL's assistant paper conservator, Denise Stockman, will discuss the materials used in picture framing and take you behind the scenes to explain the work involved in producing one of the few custom-made products still readily available in the United States.
This presentation is one in a series of public events sponsored by The New York Public Library Barbara Goldsmith Preservation Division as part of the American Library Association’s Preservation Week.
