Akhil Sharma comes to Books at Noon to discuss his latest work,  Family Life: A Novel.

Akhil Sharma has been among the most compelling voices in U.S. fiction since his short stories began appearing in The New Yorker and The Atlantic, and subsequently winning O. Henry Awards. His blockbuster first novel, An Obedient Father, earned exuberant praise both for its subtlety and its power, and won numerous accolades, including the PEN/Hemingway Award. Granta has chosen him for their once-a-decade Best Young American Novelists list. A native of Delhi, he lives in New York City and is an assistant professor of English at Rutgers University, Newark.

Make the most of your lunch hour and come to The New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Wednesdays this fall for Books at Noon, a series of free midday conversations with acclaimed authors. Books at Noon events are standing room only and take place under the center arch in historic Astor Hall. An audience Q&A and book-signing will follow each half-hour program.
