Americans love the Mafia.  But what we really know about the mob?   In this illustrated lecture the popular myths of the Mafia are compared with primary source documents that the author unearthed in archives and Freedom of Information Act files.   Among the topics explored are:    Who was the actual founder of Cosa Nostra in New York City?  What was the Mafia’s role in the drug trade?  and Did the early “Men of Honor” adhere to the code of omertà?
