Join us for a 7-week series of workshops led by John Maney, where we’ll explore the use of our five senses – smell, taste, touch, sight, and hearing – to enhance everyday and creative writing. We’ll examine how most of us understand the world through our senses, and how accessing them can help participants find their unique voices. We'll also learn how to invoke the senses, so people not just read the stories and poems participants write, but experience them.
We’ll help participants turn their writing into something that can run fast and jump, or weep, or maybe even laugh like captive dolphins, set free in the ocean of their reader’s imagination. In each of the first five sessions we'll go over one sense, in the sixth session we'll combine all the senses, and then, in the seventh we'll have a reading.
Registration is required. Please contact the branch by phone or in person to register.
This event was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
