College Application Essay Writing Workshop
This intensive three-day workshop, taught by instructor Alissa Torres, will provide
incoming high school seniors with an opportunity to create standout college application
essays in a fun, fast-paced, and supportive environment.

10:30 a.m.—4:30 p.m. (with a one hour lunch break)
Students will "try on" each of the five common application essay prompts. Students will learn about the "writer's voice," how it functions, and its overall importance in their essays. We will also discuss the qualities that make an essay great, along with grammar issues, and editing strategies.

Come prepared with a draft of your essay to work on editing, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Saturday, August 9, 2014
1:00 p.m.—4:00 p.m.
Come prepared with a draft of your essay to finish editing. We will end class with a celebration of our accomplishments!
Registration is for all three classes. Class will meet on three alternate days, with students performing some additional work when class is not in session. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions regarding this workshop.
