South African Harlem Voices (SAHAVO)

South African HArlem VOices (SAHAVO) was formed in 2004 in preparation for the 10th Anniversary of South Africa’s Freedom Day. SAHAVO is a non-profit organization that came together just for the love of music.

The group has performed in different events such as Riverside Church for Dr. Nelson Mandela, sharing the stage with Harlem Boys’ Choir. The group has performed the National Anthem at the South African Consulate General, New York on South African Freedom Day and on Youth Day. The group has also performed with Tsidii Leloka of Lion King, SAGA (South African Girls Abroad) NYACE (New York African Chorus Ensemble) Annointed In Step Praise Dancers, performed numerous times at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, and most recently in May 2012 at the Harlem State Office Building and the Juneteenth-Kingfest Celebration 2012 in New York City.
