The Art of Making Poems

With Instructor Hermine Meinhard

This FREE 8-week poetry writing workshop will engage participants in a series of exercises that will connect them to their own process of writing and culminate in their own chapbook of poems. Participants will learn ways to access the intuitive mind, how to use a variety of materials, including objects, evocative language and artwork, to enter into writing, how to shape a poem on the page and assemble a group of poems to make for compelling reading.

We will discuss the work of a variety of poets to introduce participants to the range and possibilities of poetry; and we will draw on the library’s extensive picture and art book collections. Participants will read and display their work at a final celebratory reading and showcase at the library.

Limited to 15 participants.

 Online Registration is required.

Registration opens February 24, 2014 (closes March 17)

Participants will be chosen by lottery and notified
