The People's Laundromat Theater

Event Details

The Laundromat Project, a community-based non-profit arts organization and Shani Peters, a 2013 Create Change Resident introduced the Harlem community to 32 NYC video artists by looping their independent video work on television monitors at the Clean Rite Center Laundromat on Lenox Ave. & 129th St. The People's Laundromat Theater invited laundromat customers to share their impressions and rate the work throughout the period of the theater’s operation. Peters’ goal was to empower the imaginations of the community through exposure to art and creative dialogue.

Don't miss the red carpet style finale event where the top rated works will be screened and everyone is given the V.I.P. treatment!
