June 3rd: Arabian Nights (1942;86mins.) Dir: John Rawlins. The caliph of Baghdad must go into hiding with a group of traveling performers when his brother usurps the throne. June 17th: The Snapper (1993;94mins.) Dir: Stephen Frears. Set outside Dublin, Sharon Curley is a 20 year old living with her parents and many brothers and sisters. When she gets herself pregnant and refuses to name the father, she becomes the talk of the town. Based on the novel by Roddy Doyle. Starring Colm Meaney.
June 24th: Brigadoon (1954;108mins.) Dir: Vincent Minnelli. Two vacationing Americans stumble upon a Scottish village which comes to life for only one day every 100 years. One of the men falls in love with a townswoman, and has to decide where his heart lies. Starring Gene Kelly, Van Johnson, Cyd Charisse.
July 1st: The Birds (1963;120mins.) Dir: Alfred Hitchcock. Melanie Daniels is a beautiful blonde who arrives in Bodega Bay in pursuit of the handsome and eligible Mitch Brenner. July 29th: Match Point (2005;124mins.) Dir: Woody Allen. At a turning point in his life, a former tennis pro falls for a femme-fatal type who happens to be dating his friend and soon-to-be brother-in-law. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer, Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
August 5th: Funny Face (1957;103mins.) Dir: Stanley Donen. A Cinderella story about an inconspicuous salesgirl who is whisked off to Paris by a group of fashion magazine sophisticates and is transformed into a dazzling model with whom the magazine's photographer falls in love. August 12th: You Were Never Lovelier (1942;97mins.) Dir: William A. Seiter. The Acunas family is a family of tradition. The family holds the ritual of making sure that their daughters get married in order of age. When the second daughter does not follow the tradition quickly enough, her sisters resort to finding her a lover.
August 19th: Winchester '73 (1950;93mins.) Dir: Anthony Mann. An engaging frontiersman attempts to track down his father's murderer and the whereabouts of his one-of-a-kind rifle, the Winchester '73, as it passes among a rogue's gallery of owners including a crazed highwayman, an immoral gunrunner, a young Indian chief, and Stewart's own murderous brother. Starring James Stewart, Shelley Winters.
August 26th: The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938;102mins.) Dir: Michael Curtiz. Errol Flynn stars as swashbuckling hero Robin Hood in this Oscar-nominated classic. When the greedy Prince John seizes the throne and raises taxes on the peasants, Robin assembles his band of Merry Men to steal from the rich and give to the poor.
