Please join us on Wednesday, June 5 at 7 p.m. for a screening of Gordon Parks' Shaft (1971, 100 min) in the first floor corner room of Mid-Manhattan Library.

1970s New York City on Film is part of NYC Summer and a full schedule is available at bit.ly/nycsummer-nypl

All film screenings are FREE and each program includes an introduction to the film as well as a guided discussion afterwards. Seating is first-come, first-served and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Shaft (1971, 100 min) is a blaxploitation film directed by Gordon Parks. An action film with elements of film noir, the story centers on a black private detective, John Shaft (Richard Roundtree), who travels through Harlem and to the Italian mob neighborhoods in order to find the missing daughter of a black mobster.
