Secret Affinities: Critical Form and Visual Form in "Convolution" Journal

Join us for Periodically Speaking on May 14, 2013 with new journal Convolution and participants Paul Stephens, Melissa Dunn and Andrew Shurtz.

Paul Stephens has articles in Digital Humanities Quarterly, Paideuma, Social Text, Rethinking Marxism, Open Letter and forthcoming in Contemporary Literature. He recently completed a book manuscript titled The Poetics of Information Overload: From Gertrude Stein to Conceptual Writing. He edits Convolution and teaches at Columbia University.

Melissa Dunn is an editor and writer living in Beacon, NY. She was formerly an editor at Phaidon Press, an editor and contributing writer for the contemporary art magazine Flash Art, and has taught American literature at the Pratt Institute. Her work is published in the collection Lost and Found: Stories from New York (Thomas Beller, 2009). Currently she is a Ph.D. candidate at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Andrew Shurtz is a designer, typographer, and educator living in Brooklyn, NY. In 2007, he co-founded We Have Photoshop with Sebastian Campos, Mike Gallagher, and Rebecca Gimenez. Together, they design Convolution and have collaborated on projects for clients such as AA Bronson, The Center for Urban Pedagogy, Merge Records, MIT Press, and The Whitney Museum of American Art. Andrew currently teaches graphic design at Parsons The New School for Design and Rutgers University.
