How John Boscoe Outsung the Devil by Arthur P. Davis
John Boscoe was the sweetest bass singer in Virginny, and he knew it too. One day the Devil overheard him boasting and challenged him to a singing contest.
When Lemuel “accidentally” found the old black purse in his Mama’s dresser drawer, it was filled with quarters and dimes and nickels and even a few dollar bills. He only took a quarter the first time. He knew Mama would find out eventually. It was just a question of time and punishment.
