Family Fun at the Schomburg: Quilt-Making Workshop
January 5, 2013
Program Locations:
Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, American Negro Theatre
Laura R. Gadson, a Harlem-based quilt artist, will give parents and young people a chance to start a simple block quilt honoring family and community ties. Explore the exhibition From Cover to Cover: 20 Years of African Voices and let it be a guide in telling your own story through the art of quilt-making.
This event is presented in collaboration with African Voices and related to the exhibition Cover to Cover, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of African Voices magazine. Photo essays and other archival pieces will give viewers a historical perspective on black art and literature featured in African Voices.
