If you need food assistance the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may be able to help. 

Formerly known as the Food Stamp Assistance program. SNAP benefits can help you put healthy food on the table. SNAP monthly benefits can be used to purchase food at authorized retail food stores. SNAP benefits help low-income working people, seniors, the disabled and others feed their families. Benefits are provided through an electronic benefit card, similar to a debit or credit card. Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income, expenses and other factors.

A representative from the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House will be presenting the food assistance program at the 96th Street Library on Tuesday, November 27th from 12-1pm .

Come to the library and find out if you qualify. The representative can provide a free & confidential pre-screening for benefits, and assist you through the application process.

Be sure to bring:   
▫    Proof of all household income (pay stubs, social security award letter, etc.)   
▫    Proof of resources (bank statements, stocks, bonds, etc.)
▫    Utility bill
▫    Social Security card, passport or birth certificate & photo ID   
▫    If 60 or older or receiving SSI / SSD: recent medical bills
▫    Proof of shelter costs (rent receipt, lease)   
▫    If non-citizen: proof of immigration status
▫    Proof of dependent care & child support costs
