Financial Information, Money Matters: Consumer Credit: The Basics on Safeguarding Your Credit and Avoiding Scams

Nur-ul-Haq, Attorney,Federal Trade Commission discusses the basics of consumer credit and credit reporting, including the contents of the credit report and consumers’ rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (“FACT Act”).  Learn how to protect your credit by monitoring your credit reports and taking preventive steps to avoid inaccurate or stale information from appearing in your credit report. Receive tips on how to spot and ward off scams and abusive practices relating to credit repair, debt collection, and identify theft. 

Seating is on a first come, first seated basis unless otherwise noted.
