Movies @ Seward Park Library presents "America America" (1963)

ATTENTION: This film will begin at 10:15 instead of 10:30 in order to accommodate its longer length. Directed by Elia Kazan, loosely based upon the life of his uncle. Beginning in the 1890's the young, kind-hearted but naive Stavros lives in Anatolia, where the Greek and Armenian minorities are repressed by the majority Turks. Stavros dreams of a better life - specifically in America - where he can make his parents proud, but his journey is beset by tragedy and hardship.
