On Tuesday, June 19th, we present THE LAUGHING POLICEMAN (1973), directed by Stuart Rosenberg. When one victim in a mass murder turns out to be a cop, his partner delves into San Francisco’s underworld. Check out the rest of the series too: 6/05 – FAIL-SAFE (1964), directed by Sidney Lumet, co-starring Henry Fonda. A nuclear non-satire released the same year and by the same studio (Columbia) as Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove. An under-heralded classic. 6/12 – THE FORTUNE COOKIE (1966), directed by Billy Wilder, co-starring Jack Lemmon. A case of insurance fraud begets a cat-and-mouse game to hilarious effect. 6/26 – CHARLEY VARRICK (1973), directed by Don Siegel. A former stunt pilot becomes involved in a web of deception and murder after masterminding the robbery of a small town bank.
