Financial Information, Money Matters @NYPL: Meet the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Share

April 21, 2012

Program Locations:

Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL), Conference Room 018

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created in 2010 by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The law transferred a number of consumer protection functions to the bureau and it was given new authorities over previously unregulated financial products and services. The law also required the bureau to create an Office of Financial Education to educate and empower consumers to make better informed financial decisions. Dan Rutherford from the CFPB's Office of Financial Education will introduce you to this new government agency and explain how it is working to meet its goals of helping consumers and making the market for financial services more transparent.

Seating is on a first come, first seated basis unless otherwise noted.
