Told from the perspective of Kulaks (affluent landowners), Earth is considered one of the most important films of the Soviet Era, on par with Battleship Potemkin. In Russian with English subtitles. This comedic short film from 1925 follows a young man's obsession with the game and its effect on his fiancée, who nearly gives up on him until the world chess champion intervenes. In Russian with English subtitles. (28 minutes)
