LIVE from the NYPL: WALLS & BRIDGES
October 26, 2011
Program Locations:
Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, Celeste Bartos Forum
Inspired by Isaac Newton's observation that "We build too many walls and not enough bridges", Walls and Bridges is a 10-day series of performances and critical explorations uniting French and American thinkers and performers from the social sciences, philosophy and live arts. The festival, as a whole, has been curated by the Villa Gillet and presented by France's Conseil de la création artistique.
In its third and last season, this year’s final Walls and Bridges event will feature the influential French physicist, Etienne Klein, who is currently the Professor of Science at L’Ecole Centrale-Paris and a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute Diderot. Klein has written extensively about his field of research: most recently, he has published work on the origins of the universe and nanotechnologies. Walls & Bridges brings together Etienne Klein with an American counterpart.
LIVE from the NYPL is made possible with generous support from Celeste Bartos, Mahnaz Ispahani Bartos and Adam Bartos, and the Margaret and Herman Sokol Public Education Endowment Fund.
