The Democratic Army (called Dems), comprised of alien Squids), is battling the human army called the Friends of Liberation (Fiends) for control of Los Angeles. Led by a human scout, they are going house to house to evacuate, then demolish a Fiend-infested neighborhood in East LA. 

The Thing on the Roof by Robert E. Howard
Renowned archaeologist Tussmann was obsessed with finding a lost temple in Honduras and the treasure buried within it. He found the temple, but it wasn’t gold he brought back.  

The King of Beasts by Philip José Farmer
This special zoo is dedicated to recreating all known extinct species, even the dangerous ones.
