Metereopatic: Paintings by Tommaso Nelli
This series of paintings came into being in the wake of the very extreme ups and owns in weather during the course of 2013, and explores the way in which weather affects teh soul, or even resembles it.
Does the sould refelct the weather, or does it just inhabit the landscape affected by it? The paintings here are huddled and moody and sometimes, like the old man looking for his keys, conder their belongings locked up in their small formats.
Tommaso Nelli gradualted from Oxford University in 1994 and continued his studies in literature and philosophy at University College London> He worked in writing, journalisma nd photography until 2007 when he became a full time painter. He has exhibited at Sideshow Gallery, Brooklyn (2013), the Pencil Factory, Brooklyn (2012), the Morris-Jumel Mansion (2012) and the TILT collection, London (2012. He is an Inwood resident.
This exhibit is was funded by NOMAA (Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance).
