If you have ever walked on the North Plaza or the Concourse level of Lincoln Center, you already know James McMullan's narrative illustrations and distinctive hand-lettering, created for our next-door neighbor, Lincoln Center Theater. A prominent graphic artist for over three decades, James McMullan designs striking three-sheets, posters, and window cards that have illuminated an astonishing range of theatrical productions. As well as the published posters, the exhibition features preliminary sketches, photographs, and watercolor and gouache renderings that illustrate the process of turning reality into memorable design.
