The Life & Poetry of Julia de Burgos

This exhibit features documents, news clippings, photos and poems by Julia de Burgos (1914-1953), acclaimed Puerto Rican Poet. Curated by Carmen D. Lucca, President of The Association for Puerto Rican Hispanic Culture, Inc., this exhibit is part of the Centennial Celebration of Julia De Burgos.  Julia De Burgos move to New York 1941, where she died anonymously in 1953.  She was identified a month later and her body was exhumed and taken to Puerto Rico for a ceremonious burial.  She was featured on a US postage stamp in 2010, and in 2011 was inducted in the New York Writers Hall of Fame.
