CHARLES CHESSLER: City Flowers
Program Locations:
CHARLES CHESSLER: City Flowers
Charles Chessler is a native New Yorker who grew up a few blocks from the St. Agnes branch of the library. He loves the city and loves photographing all aspects of it – its people, Central Park, hawks and other birds, events like The Hester Street Fair and The Coney Island Mermaid Parade and, of course, the flowers of this exhibit.
Flowers interested him early on. Their beauty is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. And they are everywhere – in the parks, along the avenues and hiding in the side streets. One simply needs to take the time to stop and enjoy them.
“I love taking pictures. That’s what it boils down to. If I leave the house without a camera I don’t feel fully dressed. Taking pictures makes me feel present, alive and in the moment.”
